We’re officially into our first week of 2019 but you know it wouldn’t be right if we didn’t give you a list of some of our favorite tracks of 2018 some artist that have been listed are no strangers when it comes to topping the music charts and other upcoming artists have had their break out year with some really big tunes. Nonetheless, these are our top picks of 2018.
Skrillex just guaranteed that “Sicko Mode” will be played at every club, festival, and party. Skrillex not so long ago remixed Kendrick Lamar’s humble and made that such a heavy rotation-track. The remix feels more like 4 edits on the drums with a remixed middle part that has more of the Skrillex-sound we know. It feels very minimal and that works in the favor of this track because it will guarantee more plays in the clubs for its lack of experimentation. The best part has to be the Jersey Club section that comes in at 4:25.
The Jersey Club section has me wondering if we’re going to hear some Jersey Club collaborations with Skrillex. It would be a smart move and hopefully, he has something in the works with DJ Sliink or even some other producers from the Club community. Skrillex is definitely smart and obviously will benefit from riding this wave, but it feels much more like one of those shout-outs to the culture of Club sound. The placement of the club section of Sicko Mode is placed at the end; ensuring that it got the last attention of the listener.
Overall, this track was already good and we all have been playing this song multiple times. Thankfully, you can now add to your party playlist with an even more uptempo vibe remix. This song will do well with those people who like to dabble in EDM (There’s a difference) and those who like the heavy Bass, Jungle Terror, Jersey Club and Dubstep elements.
If you haven’t heard the “Humble” Remix by Kendrick Lamar. Checking out this remix is a must. Skrillex has been successful with the Rap remixes and releases. We see how successful “Wild for the night” with A$AP Rocky was. We can only expect even more of this style to come out.
The UK is the motherland to many bass artists. I’d like to name one I recently found this year, he goes by Distro. I was blown away at his bass-club driven style, from catchy melodies, to explosive wobbles, and raw percussion. If you listen closely to Distro’s tracks, each one has a completely different vibe. I love how he produces his music on a faster tempo (130+ bpm). It really separates him from today’s expected ‘120-126bpm’ sweet spot. Its always really cool to see artists take an extra step within dance music to do something a little different. I find Distro’s sound like no other I’ve ever heard before. To me, originality and authenticity is everything, and Distro is exactly just that. Be sure to stream his music below and show some love in the comments section.
