Insomniac Events announced that they are acquiring the formerly known Omnia Night Club in the historic Gaslamp district in downtown San Diego. The venue is set to re open this month as NOVA SD and already has a slew of talent lined up for the grand opening.
The venue which consists of a 22,000 square foot dance floor will feature an expanded main dance floor along with expansion to the already immaculate sound and visual production. With more room to dance, the venue addressed one of its previous owners main problems that existed at Omnia. If you’ve been there before, then you know exactly what I’m talking about. Hopefully Pascuale addresses some of the other issues that existed the venue previously too. The venue does (or at least did) have an amazing rooftop to enjoy the San Diego nights.
Pasquale Rotella, CEO of Insomniac has a minority partner with the Tao Group Hospitality so you know they are going to be doing some cool things inside the venue. The grand opening weekend is set for February 25th/26th and it features RL Grime and Deadmau5 respectively.
NovaSD will be an interesting splash in the San Diego electronic music pond. It’s the first time that Insomniac has expanded to owning a venue and it will be interesting to see how this affects the rest of the scene. A scene might I add that has been thriving for years with out them and one that has thrived through the pandemic era. San Diego has one of the most abundant cities if you are interested in electronic music. From clubs, to festivals, to undergrounds, local events & true raves, there is something for everyone.
None the less, it will be very exciting when the venue opens later this month.
