Create Review (MAKJ + Henry Fong) + Laidback Luke 2013 Year Mix

makjjSo this is my first post of 2014 and let me start by saying happy new year to all. These past two weeks got a bit hectic for us here at Arntre, we spent most of our time with our families and loved ones. Anyhow, the delay doesn’t stop us from bringing you the coolest updates on EDM in LA. So lets get the ball rolling…

Create this past week was LA’s party nest egg. MAKJ and Afrojack played a roll at ending the year,  Laidback Luke brought in the new year doing what he does best. Although we did catch MAKJ at Create, from start to finish the night was energetic. A roaring opening set from Henry Fong really warmed things up, deep house and solid grooves set the stage. Shortly after midnight the ex-race-car driver imprinted “MAKJ” in our brains. Mak really lived up to his name by not only being a world class producer but also proving himself as one of today’s top DJs. Mak’s set was a series of bootlegs, mash ups, and a few of his originals, including his famous collaboration with Hardwell “The Countdown”. Things really turned up when he mixed into “Encore”, by that time it was hard to recognize some of the IDs  which I assume was unreleased material.

For those of you headed to Vegas tonight, MAKJ will be performing for the first time at XS. He then leaves for his “Lets Get Fucked Up” Europen Tour January 10th.

Martin Solveig & Laidback Luke “Blow” (Preview)

artworks-000054214309-n69l7a-t500x500

In 2012 Martin Solveig and Laidback Luke met up in Sydney, Australia to start on a collaboration during the famous Stereosonic music festival and then met up once again during the Ultra Music Festival to work on the project that was left incomplete (Supposedly done during Ultra but felt that the Ultra crowd was not the right place for its debut). Then finally when the Tomorrowland Festival came about, and when Martin and Luke saw the reaction of the crowd when they both opened with the track, they finally felt that it was the right time to introduce it to the masses. The festival tune titled “Blow” consists of a French Electro sound mashed with Dutchy synths and drum patterns. While there is no word on its release (on Mixmash Records), you can be sure that you will be hearing it at your next edm festival. Here’s a preview!

Enjoy!
